Hexham Christmas Market

The weekend of the Christmas Market Extravaganza begins Friday the 9th of December from 2pm at Market Place and Hexham Abbey.

The stalls will have a diverse range of unique items such as handmade jewellery, pottery, flowers, food and many more. Ideal if you’re unsure of what to get a loved one this Christmas, there’ll be plenty of inspiration at the Christmas Market. Not only will the stalls be open late but a lot of Hexham’s stores will join in the festivities and be open late too, making this the biggest shopping event in Hexham. If you fancy a festive refreshment such as roasted chestnuts or mulled wine, or maybe you just want a plain cup of coffee, there will be stalls and stores serving a variety of refreshments all weekend.

The Friday market is open the latest of the weekend with the market not closing until 8pm and will also feature a host of charity stalls. There will also be live music taking place in the Abbey Cloister, make sure you grab some mulled wine to keep you warm.

The Saturday event begins at 9am and hosts a range of events such as: Hexham’s Farmers Market, Hexham Abbey Fair, Christmas Tree Festival, Santa’s Reindeer in Abbey grounds, Santa’s grotto, face painting, children’s fairground rides and, of course, a huge range of festive stalls.

On Sunday the 11th, the final day of the Hexham Christmas Market weekend, there will Carols in the Park organised by some of Hexham’s churches. This will take place from 4pm at the Bandstand and is the perfect way to close the Christmas Market weekend.
