The Newcastle International Christmas market starts this Saturday. With up to 50 stalls selling everything from pottery to bratwursts there’s bound to be something for everyone. Whether you’re looking for European food, mulled wine or to get your loved ones something different for Christmas this year the Newcastle Continental Christmas market is the place for you. Beginning this Saturday the 19th and running until Sunday the 11th of December.

The more local themed Christmas market that will feature local businesses will begin Monday the 12th of December and run until the 18th of December. Both markets will be held near Grey’s Monument carrying on in to Grey Street and Grainger Street. The market will be selling unique gifts such as leather handbags, jewellery and handmade pottery. There will also be a range of food including handmade chocolates, cakes and homemade jams. It wouldn’t be Newcastle without beer from local microbreweries and warming mulled wine on sale.

Of course, no Christmas day out in Newcastle is complete without going to see the Christmas Window Display at Fenwick. The theme they decided upon this year is ‘The Magic of Beatrix Potter’. To celebrate the 150th anniversary of Beatrix Potter famous characters from her stories, such as Peter Rabbit, were chosen to forefront the display. Mark Fenwick, Chairman of Fenwick, said: “For the 45th anniversary of our Christmas Windows, we are delighted to be able to showcase Beatrix Potters fabled characters.”
Inside the store, Fenwick have also dedicated 12,000 square feet of the second floor to Christmas. Featuring Christmas gifts and decorations to make your Christmas perfect. You can also not only visit Santa but have breakfast or tea with him. See this link for more details.
